CASSANDRA CESPEDES

      I use photography and sometimes videography to capture and document people. My work focuses on my family and my identity, it's very personal. When I photograph them in their true candid moments, I observe them and then pause that moment in time and it becomes part of our history. As I do this I also learn more about my background and who I am. I also use poetry and my voice to give my work that extra emphasis and it becomes more sentimental. In this specific work I am focusing on my grandmother and how covid has affected her and everything else that she deals with in her everyday life. I want the viewer to connect to her and to feel the sentiment.
